Pumpkin

In October 2007 I  called the Buddy Dog Animal Shelter in Sudbury and requested 2 kittens I could easily tell apart.  Pumpkin was adopted on Halloween.  She had enough orange color to suggest her name.  She was little, sweet, and lived to be 14 as an indoor cat but died in March 2022 after many months of progressive kidney failure. If I turned my back, she'd be on the breakfast table drinking milk from my cereal bowl.  Other than that, she was much loved.

Pixel

Pixel was supposedly Pumpkin's litter mate though there's no way of knowing.  They were both brought to the shelter from a barn somewhere and may have had different parents.  Looking for a name also starting with the letter P, I noted the small white dot on his forehead and named him Pixel, a suitable name for a family heavily involved with computers.  He was always twice the size of Pumpkin and now that he's an only cat, spends hours on Bob's lap or on his keyboard.

Nublet

Nublet was adopted by Ben and Lori in 2008 when they lived in Laurel, Maryland.  Someone brought her into the veterinary office where Lori worked on weekends before applying for Veterinary School. Nublet loved people and spent a lot of time flopped out on Ben's keyboard demanding attention, but she was always a bit wild, and years ago they gave up trying to keep her inside. Before Thanksgiving in 2022 she went out and was never seen again; given the wildlife in their area, they don't think she survived and they all miss her dearly.

Lila

Lila was adopted by Ben and Lori in June 2021.   She had lost a back leg following a car accident.  She gets around well as long as there are no long flights of stairs and the floor isn't too slippery.  She gets lots of affection from Gabe and Ezra and she has many dog friends in the neighborhood, going for frequent play dates.

Kaya

Kaya was adopted by Jonathan and Larissa in 2006 after they fell in love with 2 kittens at Timberlock.  They drove all the way back to camp at the end of the summer expecting to bring home both Maya and Kaya but Maya was nowhere to be seen so just Kaya came home with them. As this photo suggests, she's definitely Larissa's buddy.

Gandalf

Gandalf lived with Bob's sister Lee in Amherst, MA, and then in Burlington when she moved to the Boston area to be closer to family in 2015.  When Lee needed to downsize to Assisted Living near us in 2021, she decided that Gandalf would be better off with Jon and Larissa who were happy to have him.  He may be a Maine Coon mix and is very big and fluffy.  Not long after arriving in Carlisle, he assisted Kaya in trapping mice in the house, earning him much praise.

Cerberus

Cerberus was adopted along with his sister Jade in 2007 when Jon and Larissa were still living in Medford.  Jon trained him to eat in his dog crate, ring a bell at the back door to go out, and behave well all around.  Except for the time he ate half the contents of a couch pillow and needed major surgery.  He died in September 2022 after 15 loving years.

Luna and Vader

At the end of summer 2022, Jon and Larissa decided that 2 kittens would be a great addition to their home already having 2 elderly cats and one elderly dog.  Though they look remarkably alike, if one of them meets you at the door hoping to escape, you can be sure it's Luna.

Mittens

When 4 cats and 2 horses weren't enough 4-legged mouths to feed, Larissa heard from a friend in Albany that there was a litter of kittens she might like to see.  Jon and Larissa drove all the way to Albany and back while Elijah was in school in December 2022 to get Mittens who may be a Ragdoll or Maine Coon mix with extra toes and a fluffy coat.

Jon and Larissa's Horses

In addition to Shakira and Skandalous, Jon and Larissa welcomed Variable to their yard in December 2023, a retired Amish buggy horse from Pennsylvania.

In 2024, after Skandalous died, they bought Duncan who gave us rides up and down the driveway with Larissa leading him.
